Will Smith may tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff, has recorded 30 new songs

Last week's release of Bomba Estéreo's "Fiesta" remix may have been Will Smith's first rap verse in more than a decade, but it seems that the Philly native has a lot more new tracks in the can — plus an extensive summer tour alongside collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Smith recently spoke with Zane Lowe at Beats 1 Radio to discuss his ongoing music projects, which he claims to have recorded between shoots for Suicide Squad. The result: Some 30 recorded tracks. All new, but not all great.

"I have six or seven that I really like, that I'm trying to get the ideas to come out right," Smith said of his unreleased tracks.

Still, though, that's not due to a lack of inspiration on Smith's part. As he told Beats 1 Radio, it seems that trouble stems from the difficulty he's encountered getting those tracks to "fit the flavor" of the music he enjoys today — which, as he points out, is much different from the days when "Summertime" was king.

"I have so many things I want to say, and I'm struggling to say them in a way that fits the flavor of the music I tend to like," the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star said. "I'm from an era where it's 16 bars and hook, 16 bars and hook, bridge, hook, and out."

And while Smith didn't reveal the names of any potential collaborators this time around, he did drop one other potentially big piece of news: A forthcoming tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff, which Smith said will be one of the largest outings of his career.

"Jeff and I actually have never done a full tour," Smith said. "So this summer will be the first time we go out on a full world tour."

As for that tour's likelihood, Smith claimed he was "pretty sure."

The other good news aside from that, though, is that Smith also will be participating in Bad Boys 3, which reportedly could see a late 2016 release. For now, though, rap appears to be the focus.

"I'm definitely interested in pushing the envelope of spitting," the Philly native said. "I'm going to keep giving it a shot up until I'm 70 or 80 years old."
