Heather Moore, a local physical therapist and owner of Total Performance Physical Therapy, was recently offered the chance to work with Olympic athletes at the U.S. Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs, the flagship training center for the U.S. Olympic Committee and the Olympic Training Center programs. She leaves on Nov. 9 and will be there for two weeks.

While Moore has worked with athletes of all abilities including those on the PGA and LPGA Tours, this will be her first time at the Olympic training center where she will be on call 24-7 for all Olympians at the center.

"I will be doing whatever they need, from working with athletes with overuse injuries and tendinitis to helping treating injuries when they happen," she explained.

She will be a part of a multidisciplinary Sports Medicine team, consisting of physicians, sports chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers and massage therapists working with Team USA's Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

While the center is the permanent home to swimmers, wrestlers and triathletes, other Olympic athletes will be coming as well and she expects to work with whomever needs her.

For Moore, this trip is an amazing opportunity. "There is technology they use that I haven't seen before and I'm interested in collaborating with all the phenomenal professionals there, to learn how they look at things."

The Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center includes the Ted Stevens Sport Services Center, a state-of-the art sports medicine and sport science center that offers treatment areas, physician exam rooms, a pharmacy, taping stations, Sports Optometry and the Recovery Center.
