Sixers' Embiid in three-point contest?

Following Friday's shootaround, Joel Embiid was reminded that no center has competed in the three-point contest at the NBA all-star weekend.

Then the 76ers center was asked if he would entertain the thought of entering the contest. This season's NBA all-star events run Feb. 16-18 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The three-point contest will be on Feb. 17.

"It would be nice," Embiid said with a smile. "It would be nice. I don't know."

The 7-foot-2, 276-pounder is shooting 50 percent on three-pointers, making 15 of 30 attempts.  The rookie has made three or more three-pointers in three games this season. He went 4-for-4 from the distance against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Nov. 5. That's his career high for three-pointers made.

But in the three-point contest, participants have one minute to make as many shots as possible from five positions behind the arc.

"If I have a chance to be in it, I have to practice all that," Embiid said of getting shots up quickly." But I think I can get it. I got to work on my quick release and you know most of the shots I take from three, I always hold my follow through.

"So in an all-star game, it's about getting it up. So I have work on that."
