Wilson Ramos activated from disabled list, in Phillies lineup for game vs. Red Sox

The Phillies' struggling offense received a jolt on Wednesday afternoon when the team activated catcher Wilson Ramos off the disabled list.

Ramos, whom the Phillies acquired from Tampa Bay at the trade deadline, had been out with a left hamstring strain since mid-July. Ramos was named an all-star after batting .297 with 14 homers and a .834 OPS in 78 games with the Rays.

Ramos is in the lineup for Wednesday's game vs. the Red Sox, batting sixth.

The Phillies made room for Ramos by optioning Andrew Knapp to triple A. Ramos will likely see the majority of the playing time at catcher, but Jorge Alfaro should still play roughly twice a week.

The Phillies had just two hits on Tuesday and scored once in a 2-1 loss to the Red Sox. They've lost five of their last seven — while scoring just 16 runs through those seven games — and trail Atlanta by two games in the division. The Phillies appear to be reeling thanks to a listless lineup.
