S. Jersey Boys: Tues. S.J. boys: Ozdemir lifts Burlington City

Facing a bigger goalie in Palmyra's James Brett, Ozdemir kicked a low, hard shot six minutes into double overtime. The ball stayed along the ground and went into the net, giving Burlington City a 1-0 victory against visiting Palmyra in a Burlington Freedom boys' soccer game Tuesday.

"We wanted to keep the ball low," Blue Devils coach Dennis Hardies said. "[Brett] has got a big wingspan."

The goal was Ozdemir's second overtime winner this season.

Burlington Liberty. Luis Rivadeneira nailed a free kick from 18 yards over a wall of defenders and into the upper left corner of the net to lead Rancocas Valley, ranked No. 1 in South Jersey by The Inquirer, to a 2-0 home win against Burlington Township.

It was Rivadeneira's fourth goal of the year. He later assisted on the second goal, scored by John Findlay.

In another Burlington Liberty game, Kyle Adams and Camren Allen scored second-half goals as host Northern Burlington blanked Pennsuaken, 2-0. Kyle Quigley made 13 saves in the shutout.

Burlington Patriot. Mat Shaddow scored in the 16th minute to provide the winner in Holy Cross' 2-0 victory against visiting Pennsauken.

Zach Shontz added a goal in the 43d minute.

Tri County Diamond. Mickey Demerast netted the winner seven minutes into overtime as Woodstown won, 3-2, at Deptford. Zach Telsey picked up the assist on the winner. Geoff Schaefer scored two second-half goals.

Scottie DeLussa had a goal and an assist as Cumberland won at Glassboro, 3-0. Michael Magee and Jordan Angel were the other scorers. Michael Raczenbek stopped seven shots in the shutout.

Phil Franco, Brett Hughes, and Jordan Lawrence recorded goals for Delsea, which edged host Schalick, 3-2.

Tri-County Royal. Matt Hendrickson and Andrew Norcross each scored twice as host No. 4 Clearview defeated GCIT, 6-0. Jake Drozd and Dane Gil each added a goal and an assist.

Justin Curtin and Mark Petronis were the scorers in Williamstown's 2-0 shutout of visiting Triton.

Tri-County Classic. Chris Choy scored in overtime as host Clayton beat Wildwood, 6-5. Tommy Cliver provided two goals. Jared Irwin had a hat trick for the Warriors.

Nick Testa knocked in two goals to lead Gloucester Catholic to a 5-0 victory at Gloucester. Justin Phy had a goal and two assists.

Colonial Patriot. Javier Ramirez recorded a hat trick as Lindenwold rolled at Paulsboro, 8-0. Manuel Ortega earned the shutout with three saves.

Cape-Atlantic American. Ben Clark deposited two goals to lead St. Augustine to a 3-1 home victory over Millville.

Nonleague. Dwane Tracy had a hat trick, Marquise Wade scored twice, and Medford Tech beat Woodbridge Academy at home, 7-0.

Jacob Powell had the shutout with five saves.

Cross-Country

Noah Culbreath finished first with a time of 16 minutes, 3 seconds to help host Kingsway beat Hammonton for the Tri-County Royal championship.

Both teams tied, 28-28, but Kingsway took the meet on the sixth-man tiebreaker.
