Dr. Hubert J. Conner | Orthopedic surgeon, 83

Dr. Hubert J. Conner, 83, of Media, died of pneumonia Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he was former chief of orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Hubert J. Conner, 83, of Media, died of pneumonia Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where he was former chief of orthopedic surgery.

He held that post from 1964 to 1980.

A native of Benton, Pa., Dr. Conner served in the States in the Army during World War II.

After his discharge, he earned a bachelor's degree from Waynesburg College and a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University. He interned at Akron City Hospital in Ohio and completed a residency in general orthopedics at Jefferson.

Dr. Conner then shared an orthopedic practice in Chester. He was affiliated with Riddle Memorial, Taylor, and Sacred Heart Hospitals. He retired in 1987.

An elder at Media Presbyterian Church, Dr. Conner enjoyed caring for the church grounds and gardening. He was an avid golfer and a member of Rolling Green Golf Club.

Dr. Conner is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sara R. Conner; sons John, Steven, and Andrew; daughters Dorothy and Janice; a sister; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at Media Presbyterian Church, 30 E. Baltimore Ave., Media. Friends may call from 10 a.m.
