Teenage boy drowned in creek in Juniata Park, cops say

A 15-year-old boy swimming with friends in Frankford Creek was swept underwater Monday afternoon and drowned, police said.

A 15-year-old boy swimming with friends in Frankford Creek was swept underwater Monday afternoon and drowned, police said.

The unidentified teen was swimming in a section of Frankford Creek near the intersection of East Wyoming and Ramona avenues along the Juniata Golf Club in the Juniata Park section of Philadelphia, police said.

After he disappeared at about 5:45 p.m., officers pulled him from the creek about half an hour later and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No further details of the death were immediately known, police said.
