Family: Missing student Shane Montgomery's keys found

Investigators have found a set of personal keys belonging to missing Roxborough man Shane Montgomery.

Investigators have found a set of personal keys belonging to missing Roxborough man Shane Montgomery.

The discovery came Sunday, as volunteers with the Garden State Underwater Recovery Unit performed a four-and-a-half-hour search of the Schuylkill River, Montgomery's family said in an emailed update.

It wasn't immediately clear exactly where the keys were found.

No additional evidence was recovered, according to the update.

Members of the Montgomery family were not commenting on the discovery Sunday, other than to say they "will continue to hope for further evidence."

Montgomery has been missing since the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, when he left Kildare's Irish Pub on Main Street in Manayunk.

Surveillance video recovered about two weeks ago reportedly shows the 21-year-old West Chester University student walking toward a footpath over the Manayunk Canal shortly after 1:50 a.m.

The video did not show Montgomery emerge, according to reports.

A reward for information about his disappearance has grown to $65,000.

A police spokeswoman could not immediately confirm the discovery of the keys and investigators with Northwest Detectives would not comment.
