Man shot in face

in Northeast Phila.

An unidentified man in his 20s was shot in the face on Angus Road near Ashton in the Northeast shortly after 6:30 p.m. yesterday, police said. He was listed in stable condition at Frankford Hospital-Torresdale.

Police said three men in dark clothing were seen fleeing on foot.

Former drug house is sold

for use as rehab center

A former drug house on Allegheny Avenue near Frankford in Port Richmond has been sold by the District Attorney's Office to the Cornerstone Community Church for use as a drug-and-alcohol-rehabilitation center. The cost: $1.

Pastor Joe Darrow and his congregation will renovate the property.

The property is the 13th house that District Attorney Lynne Abraham has donated to nonprofit groups to turn into community assets.

"This is our Miracle House," Darrow said. "The need is so great."

Oaklyn, N.J., man, 62,

is charged with lewdness

A 62-year-old Oaklyn, Camden County, man has been charged with lewdness after neighbors complained that he was exposing himself and masturbating in his apartment in view of them.

John J. O'Brien was free under $5,000 bail to await a hearing on Feb. 14, police said. The alleged incident happened early Saturday.

December was best month

for Pa. job gains in 2006

Pennsylvania added 10,300 jobs in December, the largest one-month job gain in 2006 and the third straight year the state has added 50,000 or more jobs.

"Our long-term job growth is encouraging," Gov. Rendell said. "December was the eighth time in the last 70 months when the commonwealth has added 10,000 or more jobs in one month."

He said the state has experienced a net gain of more than 162,000 jobs since January 2003. The state's unemployment rate was 4.6 percent in December.
