Slain man shot 18 times

1SLAIN MAN SHOT 18 TIMES A 41-year-old man was shot 18 times on 17th Street near Cambridge in North Philadelphia last night and died after being transported to Hahnemann University Hospital. Homicide detectives said the man was shot about 6:15 and was pronounced dead at 6:47 p.m. Police were still working to identify the victim's family last night.

Homicide detectives said they were interviewing witnesses.

2HOSTAGE-TAKER SHOT IN CHEST, POLICE SAY

A 23-year-old man who took a woman hostage in Olney late Monday night was shot in the chest after he pointed his gun at a SWAT team member, police said.

The man was in critical but stable condition at Albert Einstein Medical Center, said Lt. Ray Evers, a police spokesman.

While holed up inside the home on Arbor Street near Ashdale, he fired four shots at the brother of the woman, believed to be his current or ex-girlfriend, and fired one shot at a SWAT officer after he released the woman about 1:30 a.m. yesterday, Evers said. He missed both men but suffered a "nasty graze wound" to his head that police say was self-inflicted.

3COPS: VETERINARIAN KILLED PREGNANT MISTRESS

A married Pennsylvania veterinarian is accused of killing his pregnant mistress and dumping her body in a nature preserve.

Authorities suspect hat David Rapoport, 30, killed Jennifer Snyder, 27, because he was angry about the pregnancy. Her body was found Friday in a wooded ravine in the Trexler Nature Preserve in North Whitehall Township, near Allentown. She had been shot several times.

Police say Snyder was last seen last Wednesday and failed to show up for a doctor's appointment Thursday morning. Snyder had been a technician at a veterinary hospital in nearby Lower Macungie Township. Rapoport is listed as an employee of a veterinary hospital in Harleysville.

4PIZZA-DRIVER ROBBER PLEADS

A 15-year-old Clementon, N.J., boy pleaded guilty yesterday to four counts of armed robbery and two counts of conspiracy.

He was part of a scheme to order food and then rob the delivery driver, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said yesterday. A 17-year-old accomplice pleaded guilty in the case in February.

Another 17-year-old, along with Hannah Muslim, 20, of Lindenwold, and Jamal Morris, 18, of Moorestown, has also been charged with robbing three delivery drivers on Jan. 4 and 12. The five were arrested by a state trooper disguised as a delivery driver.

5ROBBER WIELDED TIRE IRON

A Feasterville Sunoco was reportedly robbed early yesterday morning by a man with a tire iron who was wearing a pillowcase over his head with holes cut out for his eyes and mouth.

The man threatened the clerk at the gas station on Street Road about 2 a.m., then took the whole register, 6ABC reported. The suspect is described as a white man, 6 feet 2, wearing a brown jacket. No injuries were reported.
