Here are 10 people under 40 who seem likely to make their marks in Philadelphia politics in the years to come.

Brendan Boyle

Age: 31

Neighborhood: Somerton

Occupation: Running for state representative in the 170th District, which covers Somerton, Bustleton, Parkwood, Normandy, Burholme and Fox Chase as well as a corner of Montgomery County. All signs point to a landslide win.

Allies: Brother Kevin and best pal Dan Lodise, who serves as chief of staff for state Rep. Tony Payton. Endorsements include Mayor Nutter and Gov. Rendell.

Kevin Boyle

Age: 28

Neighborhood: Fox Chase

Occupation: Legislative director for Councilman Bill Greenlee by day and volunteer for his big brother, Brendan, by night. But how long before Bobby follows Jack into the political arena? He conveniently lives in a different state legislative district.

Allies: Payton, the big bro and he's building up contacts in city government.

Derek Green

Age: 37

Neighborhood: Mount

Airy

Occupation: A lawyer who has worked for the city law department, Green is special counsel to Councilwoman Marian Tasco. Ran for City Council at-large in 2007 and lost. Is widely expected to give it another shot in 2011.

Allies: Tasco, obviously, along with state Rep. Dwight Evans and other Northwest players.

Dan Lodise

Age: 33

Neighborhood: Northeast

Occupation: Chief of staff for Payton, but he's also heavily involved in the Boyle-for-House effort. Given his two best friends, he's likely to have a political berth in Philly for the foreseeable future. But don't count on him running for office. He sees himself more as a behind-the-scenes guy.

Allies: The Boyles are like brothers to him, he says. And Payton is the best boss he ever had.

Daniel F. McElhatton

Age: 36

Neighborhood: Northern

Liberties

Occupation: A well-connected D.C. insider, McElhatton is chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz. He's the son of former City Councilman Daniel P. McElhatton, and politics is in his blood. Still, he says he'd give it all up to make a feature film. How about a Nutter documentary?

Allies: Schwartz, former U.S. Rep. Bob Borski and Nutter would make the list. No doubt others would, too. But he plays it close.

Liz McElroy

Age: 35

Neighborhood: South Philadelphia

Occupation: Daughter of the former president of the American Federation of Teachers, McElroy is special assistant to Pat Eiding, president of the Philadelphia AFL-CIO. She is also political director for the local AFL-CIO and works on its get-out-the-vote efforts.

Allies: Who isn't an ally? Besides having Eiding and labor bigwigs on speed dial, she's done get-out-the-vote for Nutter.

Ted Mucellin

Age: 26

Neighborhood: Currently living in Graduate Hospital area, but spent years in Roxborough.

Occupation: Assistant director of government relations for Nutter, which means he handles stuff outside Philadelphia like regional collaboration or working with other cities on projects. Previously managed campaign for Larry Farnese when he ran for state representative in 2006, and ran Matt McClure's campaign for City Council.

Allies: Nutter, soon-to-be-state-Sen. Farnese, former City Controller Jonathan Saidel. And in his current outreach-heavy gig, that list will only grow.

Mike Oscar

Age: 31

Neighborhood: A Northeast Philadelphia native, he lives in Glenside.

Occupation: The lone Republican in the lineup, Oscar is executive director for southeastern Pennsylvania for Sen. Arlen Specter, a job that requires him to manage services in the region, travel with the senator and stand in as his surrogate.

Allies: When you're working for the region's biggest GOP star, you can have your pick of allies.

Cherelle Parker

Age: 35

Neighborhood: Mount Airy

Occupation: A talented state representative with the power to deliver an inspirational speech, Parker represents the 200th District, which includes parts of Chestnut Hill, Germantown and Mount Airy. She formerly worked as an aide for Councilwoman Marian Tasco. Might she have her eye on that seat for the future?

Allies: A Northwest darling, Parker counts Evans and Tasco among her nearest and dearest.

Tony Payton

Age: 27

Neighborhood: Frankford

Occupation: The youngest state representative in Harrisburg, Payton represents the 179th District, which covers Frankford, Northwood, Oxford Circle, Olney, Feltonville and Hunting Park. He took on the city's Democratic machine to run for office and won in 2006. Expected to win a second term in the fall, Payton has quickly drawn attention for legislation like the REACH bill, a merit-based state scholarship program.

Allies: Evans, powerhouse of the Northwest Alliance, has taken him under his wing. Endorsed by Rendell and Nutter.
