David Cohen, the Comcast Corp. executive vice president who leads the company's lobbying efforts in Washington D.C., will stay with the Philadelphia-based cable giant for another five years, Comcast said in a regulatory filing.
Cohen is a big Democratic fundraiser, an attorney and Washington insider, though federal regulatory agencies dealt him a big setback this year with their opposition to Comcast's proposed megadeal for Time Warner Cable which ultimately scuttled the planned acquisition.
Cohen has agreed to a new employment contract through Dec. 31, 2020. The employment agreement retains Cohen's base salary, but increases his bonus potential to 250 percent of the salary. The agreement also includes a $3 million restricted stock grant that vests over five years.
Cohen, who during the 1990s was chief of staff for Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell, was compensated $13.5 million in 2014, including salary, stock awards, stock option awards and other benefits; he owns 2.9 million Comcast shares, valued at $175 million.
