D'Jakarta, an easy-on-the-wallet, family run BYOB, has joined South Philadelphia's complement of Indonesian restaurants. It's at 1540 W. Ritner St. (215-463-8888), on the corner of 16th and Ritner Streets, down the block from Cacia's Bakery and Primo Hoagie.
The location happens to be the rebuilt former home of another Indonesian restaurant, Sky Cafe, which relocated to 1122-38 Washington Ave. after an October 2015 fire that started in the apartments above.
Brothers Berry and Beddy Sonie, natives of Jakarta, have the cooking services of Beddy's mother-in-law, Carerina Ho, a home cook. Comfortable surroundings include a large mural and knickknacks from back home.
Since D'Jakarta is in the soft-opening phase, the menu is truncated: some appetizers (such as spring rolls and) satay, noodle dishes, and a couple of soups.
It's open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
