Sheriff warns of bail bond scam

The Bucks County's Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a telephone scam in which people pretend to be sheriff's deputies and threaten arrest.

The callers tell victims a warrant will be issued for his or her arrest unless he or she buys bail bonds over the phone with a credit card. The callers then give out a bogus phone number and a bogus address at which victims can pick up the bonds.

Bucks County's sheriffs never call people about arrest warrants or collect money. Victims should contact their local police department or the Bucks County Sheriff's Office at 215-348-6124.
