Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs edged the Columbus Clippers, 2-1, at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pa. The win snapped a six-game losing streak.

Former Phillie Ezequiel Carrera scored the Clippers' only run as he led off the game by reaching on an error. He finished 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a strikeout to raise his average to .242.

Left-handed starter Greg Smith (5-1, 1.93 ERA) allowed the one unearned run on four hits and a walk over eight strong innings. He struck out two and earned the win.

The IronPigs scored twice In the bottom of the third inning to take the lead with three extra-base hits. Second baseman Michael Martinez tripled, center fielder Cesar Hernandez doubled and shortstop Freddy Galvis doubled with one out.

Hernandez and Galvis both had two hits in four at bats.

The IronPigs' record is now even at 51-51. Lehigh Valley will begin a four-game series against the Rochester Red Wings on Monday with southpaw Adam Morgan (1-4, 4.97 ERA) on the mound.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double A

The Fightin Phils fell to the Portland Sea Dogs, 7-5, at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine.

Left-handed starter Mario Hollands (0-1, 6.75 ERA) was knocked around early in his second start in Double A and took the loss. He allowed six runs on six hits (two home runs) and two walks over five innings.

Reading did have an early lead in the game. With the game scoreless in the second inning, second baseman Albert Cartwright hit a sacrifice fly to score first baseman Jim Murphy and catcher Justin Dalles followed with a RBI single to plate shortstop Kelly Dugan. Edgar Duran hit an RBI double in the fourth to make the score 3-1, but that was Reading's last lead.

Left fielder Tyler Henson (2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, an RBI and a strikeout) had Reading's only multi-hit game. Cartwright scored twice to go along with an RBI.

The loss dropped the Fightin Phils to 42-57. Right-hander Seth Rosin (7-4, 4.33 ERA) will get the start when Reading begins a three-game set with the Binghamton Mets on Monday.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers were shut out by the Jupiter Hammerheads, 1-0, at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Right-handed starter Perci Garner (6-3, 3.69 ERA) allowed an unearned run in the seventh on an error and suffered the loss. He limited the Hammerheads to four hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings.

Clearwater could only muster three hits in the game Center fielder Jiwan James (1-for-4) and third baseman Matt Tolbert (2-for-3 with a walk) notched base hits.

The Threshers fell to 48-47. Righty Severino Gonzalez (1-2, 2.51 ERA) takes the ball when the series continues Monday.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws lost to the Rome Braves, 3-2, in walk-off fashion at State Mutual Stadium in Rome, Ga.

Lakewood fell behind in the third inning when right-hander Nic Hanson allowed his only run of the game, but the BlueClaws recovered. Hanson settled for a no-decision for his four-hit, seven inning effort.

In the sixth, left fielder Larry Greene delivered a two-out RBI single to score catcher Chace Numata, who drew a walk to lead off the inning.

Center fielder Carlos Tocci scored a go-ahead run in the eighth. He reached on a two-base error to lead off the inning, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch.

The BlueClaws turned the game over to lefty Lino Martinez, but he gave up the tying run in the eighth and the winning run in the ninth.

Lakewood only had three hits in the game. Greene went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a strikeout to raise his average to .240. Right fielder Brian Pointer had the other hit, but struck out twice.

The BlueClaws went to 40-57 on the season. The series continues Monday and right-hander Jeb Stefan (3-4, 3.72 ERA) is scheduled to start for Lakewood.

Williamsport Crosscutters - Class A-Short Season

The Crosscutters beat the Lowell Spinners, 2-1, in 12 innings at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pa.

Catcher Gabriel Lino hit a solo home run, his fourth of the season, in the second inning to give Williamsport the lead.

The Crosscutters pitchers combined for a stellar game, but Lowell did even the score with a fourth-inning run off right-handed starter Julio Reyes, who struck out four, walked three and allowed a pair of hits over 3 2/3 innings.

Tyler Buckley (3 1/3 innings), Lee Ridenhour (three innings) and Rob Marcello all gave up only one hit in relief appearances.

The teams needed extra innings to declare a winner. Williamsport had three this in regulation, but three more hits in extras gave them the win.

In the 12th, Lino hit a leadoff single, moved to second on a wild pitch and third on left fielder Jiandido Tromp's single. Lino would score on an throwing error.

Lino finished 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, two runs scored and a strikeout in the game.

The Crosscutters improved to 17-15. The series concludes Monday. A starting pitcher has not been announced.
