Carter, Gagne out for Game 5
Sam Carchidi, Inquirer Staff Writer
Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne will miss Thursday's playoff game in New Jersey because of injuries to their right foot, the Flyers announced.
Both are day to day, general manager Paul Holmgren said.
The forwards were injured in Tuesday's 4-1 win over visiting New Jersey in Game 3. After the game, Carter said "it's nothing," but he was limping around the locker room.
Gagne was injured blocking a Brian Rolston shot, while Carter apparently injured his foot while scoring his second goal in the game. He had missed eight late-season games with a broken left foot.
Ville Leino will see action on Thursday, and there is a chance Jon Kalinski or David Laliberte will be activated.
The Flyers lead the series, three games to one.

Much more to come.
I am wicked concerned as Carts really has been coming on harder every game and Gags is playing terrific hockey on both ends as well as the PK. Marty really robbed him last night from what should have been his 1st if not 2nd of the series. There is no replacing these guys. Just say your prayers that Leino and LaLieberte can contribute by not making big mistakes by giving the Devils extra scoring chances. Pantaphobia- azguz: Cam Ward was the 2nd string goalie that year. He only played 2 games in the AHL that entire season and played 28 games in the NHL that year in the regular season.
The Flyers ALWAYS have injuries during the playoffs: Tim Kerr in 1985 and 1987, Desjardin in 2004, etc...you know the drill. I hope Carter can get back soon. I'm a moron b/c I think Gagne has been a big let down? He's a shell of his former self....a stiff breeze knocks him off the puck...he's weak. Is he better than Leino and David L, yes, but he shouldn't be on the top line. Gags should have been dealt while he still had SOME value. Tar Heel 1
Snipesmorris: Let's check in on this mid-way through the next series. I think the Devils have rolled over and made the Flyers look better than they are, especially the blueliners Pronger's going to need to play 35m a night against Washington. And if they keep taking idiotic penalties (even taking into account that the refs had zero control in both games here) they'll bury themselves. For what it's worth I only think the team should be blown up if the young leadership doesn't consistently show up to play every night, as it has this season. There's no excuse for that. roadtriptoday
Gagne the best player on the ice?????????? I must be watching the wrong series. My apologies. Tar Heel 1- "Philly_has_a_Lack_of_sanity said: Why couldn't it be Hartnell?" Because that heartless fool never goes where the actual play IS. Hard to get hurt when you never put yourself in the way of someone else's slapshot, eh?! Props to Carter for being where he was when Pronger rang that nasty slapshot off him; Carts gets blasted for floating on the outside most of the time, but he was grinding in front of Brodeur right there. See what happens, Jeff?? You score from that area, plain and simple. Sure, you might get killed by a Pronger slapper, but man up and start venturing in there more; could make you a 50-goal scorer next season. Try it. And take your game to the next level.

Haha good stuff people, enjoy the time before Ovi rolls into town... Phillies1120- I think the problem many people have with Gagne is that he looks like he doesn't care to push himself to be the best he can be. He is so talented that he can score 30-40 and maintain his defensive play just by being out there, but it's legitimate to wonder if he is capable of more. Those kind of players usually aren't beloved here (see Abreu, Bobby) duffers
