Phillies Minor League Report: Aaron Nola strikes out five, earns first win for Reading

Here’s how the Phillies’ minor league teams fared on Friday, April 17:

Here's how the Phillies' minor league teams fared on Friday, April 17:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs – Triple A

The IronPigs were unable to cash in with runners in scoring position Friday in Buffalo, N.Y., going 0-for-9 and falling to the Bisons 5-1 at Coca-Cola Field.

Adam Morgan took the loss for Lehigh Valley, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits in five innings of work.

Third baseman Maikel Franco went 3-for-4 with a double, improving his average to .371.

Right fielder Jordan Danks went 2-for-4 and is hitting .310 this season for the IronPigs.

The IronPigs (3-6) are in action against the Bisons (5-3) again Saturday. Domonic Brown is expected to be in the Lehigh Valley lineup. Righty Paul Clemens (0-0, 3.00 ERA) is scheduled to start for the IronPigs.

Reading Fightin Phils – Double-A

The Fightin Phils had no problem dispatching the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Friday night, cruising to a 7-1 victory at FirstEnergy Stadium in Allentown.

Aaron Nola earned his first win of the season, striking out five batters in six shutout innings of work.

Center fielder Roman Quinn went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Quinn also swiped three bags to bring his season total to seven.

First baseman Brock Stassi was 2-for-4 with three RBI.

The Fightin Phils (4-3) are in action again Saturday when they continue their series with Richmond (3-4) at 6:05 p.m. Lefty Jesse Biddle (1-0, 0.00 ERA) is scheduled to start for Reading.

Clearwater Threshers – Class A-Advanced

The Threshers outlasted the Lakeland Flying Tigers in a 17 inning marathon game, 4-3 at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla.

Miguel Nunez started for Clearwater, allowing three earned runs on six hits over five innings.

Clearwater was 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.

Left fielder Andrew Pullin was 2-for-5 with a homerun and two RBI.

Center fielder Aaron Brown also homered and was 2-for-7.

Cody Forsythe pitched the final four innings in relief for Clearwater, striking out six and earning his first win of the season.

The Threshers (6-3) take on Lakeland (2-7) Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Righthander Colin Kleven (0-1, 12.60 ERA) is scheduled to start for Clearwater.

Lakewood BlueClaws – Class A

The BlueClaws' bats came to life Friday in Hagerstown, Md. as Lakewood beat the Suns 9-3, at Municipal Stadium.

Tyler Viza earned his second win of the season, as he struck out five batters over five innings and surrendered two earned runs on four hits.

The BlueClaws managed 11 hits as a team. Left fielder Herlis Rodriguez lead Lakewood with three RBI and went 1-for-4.

Carlos Tocci had an RBI double as the center fielder went 1-for-5.

The BlueClaws were 5-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Lakewood (5-4) continues their series with Hagerstown (3-5) on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Ranfi Casimiro (0-1, 10.80 ERA) is scheduled to start for the BlueClaws.
