Weekend snow likeliest south of Philly

The weekend won't seem springlike, especially for anyone driving south on Sunday morning.

Some flurries could be in the air Saturday night into Sunday morning in the Philadelphia area.

"I think we're safe," said meteorologist Patrick O'Hara of the National Weather Service.

The threat of accumulation - an inch or so of powdery stuff - seems to have moved southward since this morning, toward southern Delaware and Maryland, he said.

Parts of Virginia could see the most, maybe a couple of inches, with even Richmond seeing sleet, as the system out of the Oklahoma sweeps toward the Carolinas, which should get rain, O'Hara said.

No high winds or flooding problems are expected from this storm, he said.

Cold temperatures will remain in place into the beginning of next week, with highs in the low to mid 40s, and overnight lows in the 20s or low 30s.

Typically, late March sees highs in the mid 50s, with lows in the upper 30s.

Wednesday should see a return to more normal temperatures.
