Where to watch the Oscars in Philly

You sat, eyelids peeled, through the films, worshiped the stars, and admired the directors. Now see how they fare during the biggest show each awards season: the Oscars. Watch in good company on Sunday, Feb. 22 and be prepared to live-tweet the whole thing.

You sat, eyelids peeled, through the films, worshiped the stars, and admired the directors. Now see how they fare during the biggest show each awards season: the Oscars. Watch in good company on Sunday, Feb. 22 and be prepared to live-tweet the whole thing.

Join the Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com at the Hard Rock Café (12th and Market Streets) for an A-list event fit for the stars. Starting at 7 p.m., enjoy free bits and cocktails courtesy of Bluecoat Gin, hang with Jenice Armstrong, Elizabeth Wellington, Amy Buckman and other folks from our newsrooms throughout the night, and get ready to have your photo taken on the red carpet by HughE Dillon.

Starting at 5 p.m., Pennsylvania 6 (114 S. 12th St.) will roll out their $1 select oyster and $6 bubbly cocktail deals. Hear fashion commentary during the red carpet telecast and hang around for the awards themselves.

Dress as your favorite Oscar nominee, actor or cinematic moment for the Bucks County Playhouse's (70 S. Main St., New Hope) costume contest. Other than that, watch the Academy Awards and try your hand at predictions by filling out your own winners' ballot. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Support the Delaware Valley chapter of Volunteers of America with a luxurious screening party at the Loews Philadelphia (12th and Market Streets). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for red carpet and cocktail hour followed by an auction. Get ready for the show — accompanied by dinner — at 8:30 p.m.

Square 1682 (121 S. 17th St.) will transform into a space for both stars and film appreciators alike starting at 6 p.m. Outfitted with a step-and-repeat, specialty cocktails and free popcorn, you'll be able to watch the ceremony in fashion on the restaurant's additional TVs. During the commercial breaks, stay entertained with Oscar-themed trivia with the chance to win prizes.

You're the star of this show. Walk the red carpet at the Ambler Theater (108 E. Butler Ave., Ambler), sip champagne, enjoy a catered dinner, hop in the photo booth, and more starting at 6:30 p.m. By 8 p.m., settle into your seats and watch the main event. Fill out your own awards ballot and see how your predictions fare.

Pull a Hilary Swank and get your burger fill on Oscars night. The plus side is you don't have to wait until after the ceremony is over to dig in. Shake Shack University City (3200 Chestnut St.) will be showing the awards on their three TVs starting at 7 p.m. Come with your winners predictions handy — fill out an awards bracket and score prizes if you have the most correct winners. Come hungry, with any food purchase, you'll get free fries.

Pull the Prada gown out of the closet and don your best red carpet attire for the Philadelphia Film Society's Academy Awards viewing party. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with drinks and appetizers, then watch the show starting at 8 p.m. at the party's two locations: 2017 Sansom St. (where the party stuff goes down) and the PFS Roxy Theater (2021 Sansom St.).

Staying in theme with this year's Philadelphia Flower Show — the movies — the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is throwing their own Academy Awards viewing party at the winter pop-up garden at the Shops at Liberty Place (1625 Chestnut St.) where they'll have Golia Vodka cocktails and a red carpet. Have fun if you RSVP'd — the event is sold out.
