#PhillyFive Things to Do: May 8, 2015

The worst thing you could do today would be to not attend these events.

The worst thing you could do today would be to not attend these events.

For produce: To celebrate the opening of the Weavers Way Henry Got Crops Farmstand at Saul High School (7095 Henry Ave.), volunteers are welcomed to work on the farm, starting at 11 a.m. Later in the day, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., vendors like Philly Bread, Soom Foods Tahini & Dips, Jubilee Hill Tulsi Tea, Kitchen Garden Series and Weckerly's Ice Cream will offer samples. There'll also be games and kids activities.

For an overnight: Kids ages 6 to 12 (and their chaperones) can spend a night in the Penn Museum (3260 South St.) with a flashlight journey, exhibition exploration and more. Load in your gear at 5:30 p.m. this evening and be prepared to depart by 9 a.m. tomorrow. (Though campers will have free admission to the museum the entire day on Saturday.)

For a benefit: W/N W/N (931 Spring Garden St.) hosts a Nepal Earthquake Relief Dinner with dinner — Dal Bhat, a Nepali meal comprised of rice, soup, curry, vegetables and salad — music, dance and art. Running from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., the event's donations, accepted at the door, will benefit The Pureland Project's Nepal Earthquake Relief Efforts.

For culture: In a combination of dance, music and visual, the Shen Yun Performing Arts Company brings traditional Chinese choreography — complete with intricate costuming and musical orchestrations — to the Merriam Theater (250 S. Broad St.) for a 7:30 p.m. performance.

For a "where are they now?": You might recognize Alison Arngrim from her prairie days. Famous for playing Nellie Oleson from Little House on the Prairie, Arngrim comes to Voyeur Nightclub (1221 St. James St.) to share the dirty little secrets from the Prairie set, other child stars from the '70s and '80s and more. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.
