#PhillyFive Things to Do: Feb. 26, 2015

What are you doing later?

What are you doing later?

For a competition: Student-created breakfast meals will be judged at the Free Library of Philadelphia's Culinary Literacy Center (1901 Vine St.) for the Culinary Voice competition, in which the winning dish will be served at all Philadelphia school district cafeterias. The live-cooking competition and reception begins at 12:30 p.m.

For a free lecture: Flex your mussels at this 6 p.m. talk at the Wagner Free Institute of Science (1700 W. Montgomery Ave.) about the roles that mussels play in freshwater aquatic ecosystems.

For a reptilian rendezvous: The Academy of Natural Sciences (1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway) is open late tonight for a screening of Anaconda, starting at 5:30 p.m. As a part of their Mega-Bad Movie nights, museum experts will offer their insight on the unscientific aspects of the film. See real-life snakes in the museum's "Titanoboa: Monster Snake" exhibit at 6 p.m.

For those ready to take the plunge: Have the trendiest wedding around after attending the Love is in the Air Bridal Expo where brides will be treated to a fashion show, vendors and wedding day specialists (like photographers, wedding cake designers, honeymoon specialists and more) while the grooms can retreat to a guy's room for some whiskey. Sip on cocktails and enjoy bites from Stephen Starr events throughout the evening, running from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Horticulture Center (100 N. Horticultural Dr.).

For fun pop: Dance-y New York fivesome MisterWives just released their debut album this week, featuring horns, handclaps and tambourines alike. Hear them tonight at Union Transfer (1026 Spring Garden St.) at 8:30 p.m.
