For artistic expression: Senior art critic for New York Magazine, Jerry Saltz, comes to talk art from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight at the Barnes Foundation  (2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway).

For a powerful message: Two documentaries about AIDS activism screen at International House Philadelphia (3701 Chestnut St.) starting at 6:30 p.m.

For gardeners: Go from having just a green thumb to making the world a little greener. Learn eco-friendly gardening tips to help alleviate pollution from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Morris Arboretum (100 E. Northwestern Ave.).

For a talk on the process: Minimalist composer Philip Glass comes to the Free Library of Philadelphia's Central Branch (1901 Vine St.) for a 7:30 p.m. talk on his memoir "Words Without Music."

For tunes: Touring behind their 2015 album What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World, Portland's The Decemberists bring their whimsical and melodic tunes to the Academy of Music  (Broad and Locust Streets) at 8 p.m.
