A guide to the Independence Seaport Museum's Lost at Sea series

During the last weekend in June, the Independence Seaport Museum’s Tall Ships celebration featured historic ships, fireworks, and the world’s largest duck that went “fowl.

During the last weekend in June, the Independence Seaport Museum's (211 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd.) Tall Ships celebration featured historic ships, fireworks, and the world's largest duck that went "fowl."

Beginning Thursday, July 23, the maritime museum will reopen its Tall Ships Tavern and host a summer series featuring weekends themed all around nautical activities.

Small Ships Festival: Thursday, July 23 Sunday, July 26

Move over Tall Ships, you had your fun. Kicking off the series is a weekend full of miniature activities for all to enjoy. Visitors will be able to see a small fleet of model ships from Philadelphia Ship Model Society, build their own mini boats, and even get to look at the World's Smallest Rubber Ducky.

Rescue Weekend: Thursday, July 30 – Sunday, Aug. 2

This weekend will give guests the chance to learn about first responders and their duties in, and out, of the water. Besides our human lifesavers, a rescue puppy station will be on site.

Pirate Weekend: Thursday, Aug. 6Sunday, Aug. 9

Ahoy! Bring out your inner pirate with a "Where's the Rum?" scavenger hunt, take part in a pirate-themed quizzo, and enjoy live entertainment from actors in costume.

Navy Weekend: Thursday, Aug. 13Sunday, Aug. 16

During Navy Weekend, see if you're tough enough during a boot camp exercise. Meet Navy officials for future enrollment, and cap things off with a strategic human battleship game!

Tattoo Weekend: Thursday, Aug. 20 Sunday, Aug. 16

Throughout the weekend, sink in some ink history at the Tattoo Lounge exhibit and get a traditional faux piece on your body.

Hucksters Weekend: Thursday, Aug. 27 – Sunday, Aug. 30

Take a walk through the museum's latest exhibit: Hucksters: The Tumult of Dock Street and discover the history behind Philadelphia's Dock Street Market.

Environmental Awareness Weekend: Thursday, Sept. 3 – Sunday, Aug. 6

For the finale, it's all about H20! Guests can learn how to test their water quality, dissect a squid, and write with squid ink.

Throughout each weekend, the Tall Ships Tavern will serve local brews from Troegs and Victory. Additionally, spirit selection includes Tullamore Dew, Sailor Jerry, and New Amsterdam Vodka.

Tall Ships Tavern Hours:
Thursday: 5 to 10 p.m.
Friday: 5 to 11 p.m.
Saturday: noon to 11 p.m.
Sunday: noon to 7 p.m.

Program Hours:
Thursday: 6 to 9 p.m.
Friday: 6 to 11 p.m.
Saturday: 1 to 4 p.m.; 6 to 11 p.m.
Sunday: 1 to 3 p.m.; 4 to 7 p.m.
