Le Viet: Styling in South Philly

See South Philly's most polished Vietnamese restaurant.

Le Viet -- one of the city's more polished Vietnamese resto-lounges -- has opened at 1019 S. 11th St. (215-463-1570), just north of the CVS at Washington Avenue.

Owner Bruce Cao and family are doing home-style cooking.

Selected specials: sauteed baby clams in a house sauce, served with sesame rice cracker; noodle soups; noodles in tomato broth, topped with either crab or shrimp paste; and jumbo prawns sauteed saltr and black pepper and served on a pineapple bed.

Moderate prices: $5 to $15 for apps, $8 to $25 for entrees.

There's a bar (though it's BYOB till the liquor license arrives), a Facebook fan page, and a most neat website.
