2017 NFL Draft: Roger Goodell was booed relentlessly in Philly, and everyone loved it

After hearing repeated boos from a very vocal crowd in Philly, maybe NFL commissioner Roger Goodell should just skip the NFL Draft from now on.

Rightly or wrongly, Philadelphia has a reputation for having the rowdiest, most outspoken fans of any major city in the country.

So when NFL commissioner Roger Goodell took the stage to open up the NFL Draft on Thursday, he was predictably booed by the thousands gathered in the City of Brotherly Love to watch the draft live.

Only this time, the intensity of the boos coming from Philly was celebrated by fans across the country. After all, the one thing that unites every fan in the league (and possible the only thing that could bring Eagles and Cowboys fans together) is a shared dislike of the handsomely-paid Goodell.

Here he is being booed on Thursday as he attempted to open the NFL Draft:

Not even human shield Ron Jaworski could protect him from the angry crowd on day two:

There was also this guy:

By far, the best decision Goodell made all weekend was to let beloved former Eagles Brian Westbrook and Brian Dawkins open things up on Saturday. Meanwhile, Goodell went unseen, a lesson he probably learned last year after being booed relentlessly by a vocal Chicago crowd to start the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Maybe next year, Goodell should just avoid the NFL Draft stage altogether. After all, as Pro Football Talk Mike Florio notes, "[I]t doesn't help him, it doesn't help the league, and it doesn't help the draft for the Commissioner to continue to be the face of the event."
