Dawkins, Westbrook fire up NFL draft crowd: ‘If anyone from Dallas steps to this doggone podium’
Leave it to two former Eagles to awake the crowd at the start of a hot day three of the NFL Draft in Philadelphia
Last night, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was mercilessly booed by the crowd attending the NFL draft, despite sharing the stage with former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski.
Maybe he should have walked out with Brian Westbrook and Brian Dawkins instead.
The two former Eagles woke up the crowd Saturday afternoon with an impassioned introduction to day three of the NFL draft in Philadelphia.
Westbrook kicked things off by declaring Eagles fans the best in the country, and issued a stern warning to any rivals who might want to stir things up during the final day of the draft.
"If anybody from Dallas steps to his doggone podium, in my city, in my town, were going to give them a true Philadelphia welcome," Westbrook said.
Westbrook might have been referring to what happened on Friday night, when Dallas Cowboys legend Drew Pearson took the stage and shouted to the booing crowd, "How about them Cowboys?"

Dawkins followed Westbrook, who didn't disappoint fans as he made his way to the podium yelling, "Yeah, baby!"
From then, it was vintage Dawkins.
"You are representing right now. You have set the bar of what the draft is supposed to be like," the fiery former defender said to the cheering crowd. "That's how you do it! That's how we do it!"
"Let all the haters hate. Don't worry about the haters. Be you," Dawkins suggested, before leading the crowd in singing, "Fly Eagles Fly."
