Road closures for 2014 Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon

This Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21, the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon will be back in town along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Olympians, bands, cheerleaders and all types of running enthusiasts will be descending on the city. Here is what you need to know if you are heading down to run, cheer or rock out.

Road closures for Saturday's 5K

The following roads and intersection will be closed to drivers from 5 a.m. until 10 a.m.

  1. Eakins Oval- Benjamin Franklin Parkway to Kelly Drive

  2. Martin Luther King Drive- Eakins Oval to Black Rd.

Road closures for Sunday's Half-Marathon

  1. Eakins Oval- 22nd St. to Art Museum Drive (3:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.)

  2. Ben Franklin Parkway- Eakins Oval to 22nd St. (3:30 a.m. to 12 Noon)

  3. Ben Franklin Parkway- Eastbound 22nd St. to 16th St. (7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)

  4. Ben Franklin Parkway- West Bound 16th St. to 22nd St. (7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)

  5. 16th Street- Arch St. to Market St. (7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.)

  6. John F. Kennedy Blvd.- 15th St. to 20th St. (7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.)

  7. 20th St.- John F. Kennedy Blvd. to Market St. (7:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.)

  8. Market St.- 20th St. to 15th St. (7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.)

  9. S. Penn Square- 15th St. to Broad St. (7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.)

  10. E. Penn Square- Broad St. to Market St. (7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.)

  11. Market St.- E. Penn Square to 4th St. (7:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.)

  12. 4th St.- Market St. to Arch St. (7:30 a.m.-9:45 a.m.)

  13. Arch St.-4th St. to Ben Franklin Parkway (7:45 a.m -10 a.m.)

  14. Kelly Drive- 25th St. to Falls Bridge (3:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.)

  15. Falls Bridge- Kelly Drive to Martin Luther King Drive (7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

  16. Martin Luther King Drive- Falls Bridge to Art Museum Drive (All Day)

Parking Considerations for Sunday, September 21

Everyone is encouraged to take public transportation to the race. Parking will be very difficult along the Ben Franklin Parkway. You will not be able to park on the following roads at various times throughout the morning of the race.

  1. Ben Franklin Parkway outer lanes from Eakins Oval to 21st.

  2. Ben Franklin Parkway south curbside from 16th St. to 18th St.

  3. 16th St. from Arch St. to Market St.

  4. John F. Kennedy Blvd. from 15th  St. to 20th St.

  5. 20th St. from John F. Kennedy Blvd. to Market St.

  6. Market St. from 20th St. to 15th St.

  7. S. Penn Square from Broad St. to Juniper on the South Curbside

  8. Juniper St. on the East Curbside from S. Penn Square to Market St.

  9. Market St. from Juniper St. to 4th St.

  10. 4th St. from Market St. to Arch St.

  11. Arch St. from 4th Street to Ben Franklin Parkway

  12. Logan Square on the North Curbside from Race St. to 19th St.

Public Transportation for both days

There are two SEPTA lines that will bring you within a mile of the start and finish. If you take the Market/Frankford (Blue) Line, you can get off at the 15th Street/City Hall stop.
