Live blog: 2011 Penn Relays Day 3

Saturday is always the biggest day of the weekend at the Penn Relays, and today is shaping up to be electric.

Saturday is always the biggest day of the weekend at the Penn Relays, and today is shaping up to be electric.

The main highlights will come from the the USA vs. the World races, but there will be plenty of other high school and college events for us to talk about as well.

Here are today's links for you to check out before jumping into my live chat:

- Last night, I posted the start lists for the USA vs. the World races.

- Joe Juliano of the Inquirer and Mike Kern of the Daily News recap Villanova's triumph in the college men's Distance Medley Relay.

- Keith Pompey of the Inquirer talks to the team from Shaw University, whose campus in Raleigh, N.C., was severely damaged by a tornado earlier this month.

- Joe Juliano recaps Texas A&M's domination of the women's college sprint relays.

- More from Joe: a profile of USA runner Phoebe Wright, who was a star at Franklin Field for the University of Tennessee as well.

- The spotlight shines on Villanova's Brian Tetreault and Samuel Ellison, two Philadelphia-area natives who helped the Wildcats win the men's Distance Medley Relay Championship of America; and also Boston College's Caroline King, who anchored the Eagles to a win in the college women's 4x1500-meter Championship of America race.

- The Inquirer's Evan Burgos writes about the Central Bucks South boys DMR team, which finished a surpsiring second overall.

- The day was not as good for Ocean City, N.J.'s Miles Schoedler. As the Inquirer's Chris Melchiorre writes, the No. 1 seed in the high school boys Mile Run finished a disappointing 10th out of 15 runners.

- Ted Silary of the Daily News writes about Morristown, N.J., native Nick Vena, who made Penn Relays history by winning the high school boys shot put for the fourth straight year.

- Keith Pompey meets the unofficial mayor of the Penn Relays, Herman Frazier.

- A photo gallery of yesterday's action, and two videos: scenes from the stands and interviews with a few Flyers players who came to watch the races.
