National Impact: King finishes with a kick

Boston College's Caroline King: The senior from Scotia, N.Y., ran an amazing anchor leg that enabled her to come back from 40 meters down and lead the Eagles to a surprising victory in the women's 4x1,500-meter relay.

King, who won the Atlantic Coast Conference 800-meter championship last weekend, tracked down a pair of excellent anchors - Sheila Reid of Villanova and Emily Infeld of Georgetown - in the final 100 meters. Her anchor leg was timed in 4 minutes, 12.2 seconds.

"When [Reid] passed me, I let her go by," King said. "I wasn't tired. I stayed on her right shoulder, and I felt really good. I knew when she was going to go on Emily, I put my head down on that last lap, and I'm glad it turned out for the best.

"I almost couldn't believe it happened. It was just the most exciting thing I've ever done in college, and it's something that I'll never forget."
