NBA.com issued a release today with the latest All-Star Game voting results. According to the release, Sixers' guard Allen Iverson currently ranks second among Eastern Conference guards with 635,084 votes.

Iverson, who is averaging 14.4 points and 4.0 assists per game this season, has missed three straight games with arthritis in his left knee. The 34-year-old is scheduled to return on Dec. 28 against the Portland Trailblazers.

If Iverson makes the All-Star Game it will be his 11th consecutive appearance.

Paper voting for the All-Star Game "will continue through Jan. 10, while wireless balloting and voting on NBA.com will conclude Jan. 18" according to the release.

The NBA All-Star Game will be played on Feb. 14, 2010 at Cowboys Stadium.

And be sure to check out Deep Sixer and Sixerville to get inside information and analysis from the Inquirer and Daily News.

How bad is the NBA when Allen Iverson is your starting point guard in the NBA all star game? Just let that sink in. Specifically, how bad is the eastern conference when Iverson is your starting NBA all star point guard? That just tells me that the talent level in the eastern conference is as much of a joke as Iverson being the second vote getter behind Lebron James. But I have a player that deserves the starting spot over Allen Iverson. Rajon Rondo the starting point guard for the celtics. His name is the only name that stands out for me in the eastern conference as far as good point guards. He defends, has high assist, low turn overs. His game isn't as flash, but a true basketball fan can appreciate the way Rayon Rondo plays the game. I enjoy watching him. Yes he is playing on a team with three or four hall of famers, but his play is good and he defends at that position better than any point guard in the league. The young man this year is having a good year so far when you look at his numbers. 52% shooter, 12.2 points average, and 9.7 assist. I have made more than a strong case for this guy to be not only on the all star team, but starting. Fans don't know nothing about basketball for Iverson to be second leading vote getter behind Lebron James. All they see is the tatoes and the corn rolls. All they see is the practice ramp. This guy is a CANCER. The top teams didn't want him. The bottom teams didn't want him. Except the dum as sixers. But despite the arguement, despite his CANCER ways, fans will always like Allen Iverson. Not just in Philly, but across the world. I don't think I have ever seen a player more like and more wront at the same time than Iverson. Kobe may have the highest selling jersey, but not as like or loved like Iverson is. He plays the wrong way and yet people still come out to see him. He draws like no other player in NBA history. Except Michael Jordan. The all star really is all about the fans. And they want to see Iverson. THE CANCER.

evensteven - as clueless as the nba fans that voted iverson in to the all star game are, you might be more clueless. "corn rolls"? fan's "don't know nothing"? really? at least AI is playing...definitely not an all star but t-mac is 3rd in west guards, that is just as bad. when you put fans in charge of voting, the players most deserving will probably not start. this is why coaches pick the bench. don't say that the nba/eastern conference is bad when the fan voting is what determines this...obviously they don't vote on who the best players are, just their favorites. the fans are clueless, that's the real problem here.

Let the fans vote who they want to see. It's not like it determines home court advantage.

Iverson is a top 50 player of all time, but this vote shows how stupid it is to allow people to vote. The All-Star game is only as good as the PGs in the game, and that's why the All-Star game has been a joke. The West has great PGs (Nash, Paul, Williams to name a few), but none of them will get voted in. Same w/ Rondo, Rose in the East. Either split the positions up (vote exclusively for PGs, SGs, SFs, etc) or let a panel of experts to decide. By the way, McGrady has so many votes, because everyone in China votes for Rockets due to Yao.
