Chip Kelly reportedly auditions for maybe the last job you’d expect

After being fired by the 49ers, Chip Kelly has been linked to a couple of once-vacant offensive coordinator jobs, but failed to impress the Atlanta Falcons, the Jacksonville Jaguars or the New England Patriots enough to land a gig.

Now, he might be setting his sights on television.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Charles Robinson, the former Eagles and 49ers head coach has auditioned for a job with FOX as a game analyst.

With former Broncos safety John Lynch leaving his job as a color analyst to become the 49ers' new general manager, FOX has an opening for Kelly. But the job would seem an odd fit, considering it's no real secret that Kelly has a disdain for the media, which he exhibited often during his three seasons in Philadelphia.

"Unless the media has an opportunity for me somewhere, I'll always explore those [college coaching] opportunities," Kelly told reporters back in October after the 49ers went 1-5 in their first six games.

FOX Sports did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Back in January, Kelly told FOX Sports reporter Bruce Feldman he was open to many different job opportunities, including a return to college.

"I evaluate all jobs individually," Kelly said. "I wouldn't rule anything out. I never said I'm only looking at one thing."

Kelly went 26-21 as Eagles coach. The team went 10-6 back-to-back in his first two seasons, but Kelly was fired before the final game of the 2015 season after going 6-9.
