Why can't I send someone else to pick up my packet?

Q: Why can't I send someone else to pick up my packet?

A: This policy was more prevalent in year's past and I suppose it may have been to encourage more participants at an expo or prevent the transfer of bibs to another runner.

Nowadays most running events and at all CGI Racing running events runners are allowed to pickup another runners packet with a copy of photo ID and/or note from the runner. This is definitely a more friendly option. Typically, we have found that most runners pick up their own packets any way and embrace the whole race weekend as an "experience".

Today, it is imperative to offer flexible options to participants as our ever-growing schedules demand so much more of our time. Many races offer a variety of pickup options from mailing packets home to paying an additional fee to pick up on race morning.

Whatever the policy might be, a race should have it posted clearly on the website so all participants know in advance what to expect.

Always remember to try and reach out to the RD - in many cases they will try to accommodate you!
