It'll be a busy Saturday night in South Philadelphia with Doylestown girl Pink (with infectious openers the Ting Tings) and suave neo-soul man Maxwell (with Robin Thicke and Chrisette Michele) across the parking lot from one another at the Spectrum and the Wachovia Center. But there's going to be plenty of action on the other end of the Broad Street line as well. The Philadelphia Funk Fest brings in a full slate of old school funkateeers, headlined by the ringmaster George Clnton, Con Funk Shun, Dazz Band, Slave, the Bar Kays and the Ohio Players, the Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner led good foot consortium known for their lascivious album covers back in the day, as well as their influence on the Royal Crescent Mob and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Here, they ride the "Love Rollercoaster," on The Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack, from 1975.  Ticket info is here.
