Healthy family recipe: Creamy pumpkin dip

Treat your family this holiday with a sweet that can hold its own next to Grandmom's apple pie. This pumpkin dip is the perfect after dinner dessert for kids and adults alike. At only 8 grams of sugar and less than 100 calories per serving, this will be one delight that won't break your healthy habits.

Creamy Pumpkin Dip

Makes about 8 servings (1 serving = ¼ cup)

Ingredients:

15 ounces canned pumpkin

4 ounces  1/3 less fat cream cheese, softened at room temperature

2 tablespoons of sugar

2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice ** see recipe below

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

5.3 oz. fat free vanilla Greek yogurt

Directions:

1. In a medium size bowl, stir softened cream cheese by hand until smooth.

2. Mix in remaining ingredients. Stir well.

Serve as a dip for sliced apples, pears and bananas or graham crackers and ginger snaps.

Pumpkin Pie Spice:

Mix the following ingredients together.  Makes about 3 tsp.

1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp ground nutmeg

½ tsp ground ginger

½ tsp ground allspice
