Lykke Li signs with modeling agency, Lana Del Rey covers magazine

In the latest episode of artists-turned-models, I Follow Rivers singer Lykke Li signs with Viva Modeling Management.

The announcement follows the news of both Lana Del Rey and Solange Knowles recently signing with NEXT modeling agency, and Gloria Estefan signing with Wilhelmina's celebrity division.

It appears that modeling agencies are finally acknowledging the profitability of musicians posing in fashion publications, considering that artists like Gaga topped magazine sales in 2011. For someone who subscribes to a number of glossies, one of my favorite issues last year was W's July music issue, featuring Beyonce as its cover model.

It also helps that most of these musicians are bred to take gorgeous photos. Take for example, Lana Del Rey on the February 2012 cover of Interview Russia. Love her or hate her, but it looks like the self-proclaimed gangsta Nancy Sinatra, whose album drops Jan. 31, knows exactly how to work the camera.
