Two suspects identified in Piazza killings

Philadelphia police have identified two men wanted in connection with the fatal shootings of Rian Thal and Timothy Gilmore at the Piazza at Schmidt's last month.

Inquirer staff writer Troy Graham reports:

Philadelphia police have identified two men wanted in connection with the fatal shootings of Rian Thal and Timothy Gilmore at the Piazza at Schmidt's last month.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Donnell Murchison, 30, who faces murder charges in the fatal shootings of both Thal and Gilmore, and James "Poo" Wilson, 36, aka Keith Epps, who faces burglary and related offenses.

Police say Wilson was the mastermind of the double-murder, and believe he and another man, Robert Keith, 27, burglarized an apartment they thought was Thal's on the 6th floor of the Piazza, only to find a vacant apartment. Keith is in custody on burglary and related charges.

Earlier this week, police arrested Katoya Jones, 25, who lives in the same building where Thal had an apartment at the Piazza at Schmidts in Northern Liberties. Although Jones was not one of the three people who fired on Thal and Gilmore, police said she played a significant role in their murders.

Police are still looking for two shooters and at least two lookouts, all believed to be from the Philadelphia area.
