Thief gets four years for filching lobsters

An Atlantic City man who was caught red handed stealing stealing 91 lobster tails from a casino in February reportedly has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Inquirer staff report:

An Atlantic City man who was caught red handed stealing stealing 91 lobster tails from a casino in February reportedly has been sentenced to four years in prison.

The Press of Atlantic City says Anthony Jones admitted he took the frozen lobsters from Bally's Atlantic City and tried to sneak them out in his jacket and backpack until a security guard monitoring a surveillance camera noticed his clothes were unusually bulky, and stopped him.

Jones was originally charged with theft, tresspassing and burglary, but the other charges were dropped when he pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary, the newspaper says.

On Friday, Superior Court Judge Michael Donio sentenced  Jones who, because he has previous convictions,- must serve at least three years of his four-year term.

Bally's says the lobsters tails -- valued at $1,275 -- were destroyed.
