Tricky, Jon Stewart, tricky. On Thursday, he brought out John Oliver, presumably to comment on a story about snooping on the British royals. Only it quickly became apparent that the story was a ruse.

Although he didn’t know it, the British funny man was there to take a final bow in the spotlight. It was Oliver's last appearance on The Daily Show before he leaves to prepare his own series for HBO.

It’s a funny, Cockney-filled montage, and as it builds to a rousing “God Save the Queen”, you can see that Ollie is visibly moved.

Good luck, guv’nor.
