Matt McAndrew lights up the first live show with a Beach Boys cover
By the time Philly’s Matt McAndrew finished singing the Beach Boys classic, “God Only Knows” on Monday night’s live edition of
The Voice
, judge Gwen Stefani was visibly holding back tears.
Hey, we thought it was profoundly moving too, Gwennie.
McAndrew, a Long Beach Island native who lives in Philadelphia, gave a velvety version of the song with a little Turtles' harmony thrown in. "You have so much personality oozing out of you," Stefani said.
Judging by iTunes sales which McAndrew was leading hours after the broadcast ended, he looks like a favorite to survive the first live competition on Monday.
A member of Team Adam, McAndrew describes himself on his Twitter page as a "singer-songwriter, tattoo enthusiast, lucid dreamer."
