The premise was real enough. Former Disney star Miley Cyrus did have a birthday this week and her friends did in fact give her a cake decorated to look like rasta king Bob Marley. And Miley did indeed speculate as to the significance of that choice.
Here's where Saturday Night Live took that set-up:
Guest host Steve Buscemi was just some random stoner that Miley (Vanessa Bayer) met at the Burning Man festival. The genius part was who Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus (Jason Sudeikis) turned to to intervene with his baby's chronic problem.
Yes, yes, it's Maya Rudolph on loan from Up All Night to do her priceless Whitney Houston impersonation. Shoop, baby.
