Despite video hoax, hover boards are still many years away.
You might have seen a video hailing the much-anticipated arrival of hover boards. A company called HUVr Tech brought in Doc Brown himself (actor Christopher Lloyd) to lend credence to the exciting new technology.
The video (below) claims that "the following demonstrations are completely real," and features celebrities like Terrell Owens, Tony Hawk, Moby, and others to show how easy hover boards are to ride. HUVr also claims to have an app that can log your distance, speed, and routes while hovering.
The concept of a hover board was made famous in the 1989 film, "Back to the Future: Part II," in which Marty McFly flew around on a futuristic pink hover board.
"I am proud to announce the technology has caught up with the concept," Lloyd says in the video.
I am disappointed to inform you that no, it has not.
If you click on the legal terms section of HUVr tech's legitimate-looking website, you'll find an upsetting disclaimer:

Heartbreaking, I know.
Although the power laces are rumored to be on their way next year, the technology for hover boards has not yet arrived.
Maybe in another thirty years.
