How much snow forecasters are predicting in Philly region from coastal storm

Heavy snow was winding down Wednesday evening, and how much snow you got was dependent on your location.

Parts of Montgomery and Bucks County had already neared six inches even before noon Wednesday.

This was the fourth straight week of snow in March, which is more than making up for February's lack of snow and balmy temperatures.

Here were forecasters' projections as of Wednesday. (On Thursday, when all the totals are in, we'll see how forecasters did). These totals encompass both Tuesday's mostly-nuisance snow and Wednesday's storm:

The weather service had first predicted four to six inches, then 10, then 12, then 16. Wednesday morning, the service had dropped its forecast to eight to 12 inches.

NBC10 had earlier predicted eight to 14 inches. Now it says six to 12 for Philadelphia.

The weather sites had earlier predicted 10 to 14 inches in Philadelphia, but revised that Wednesday morning to five to 10. Up to 14 inches was still predicted just northwest of the city.

One thing to consider: The angle of the sun in March is higher than in other winter months and could keep accumulations down during the daylight hours.

And the snow doesn't stop after Wednesday. More is possible this weekend, though details on that are still murky.

Snow or not, spring temperatures don't look to be making an arrival any time soon.
