When Greg Lang and his wife moved to Bucks County from Wilmington for Greg’s job with an insurance company in Princeton, the couple knew they had an unusual house. They were enamored with the home’s unique features and history and eager to raise their three children on what was once a 1,000-acre farm.

“They spent their entire childhood there,” said Lang, now an insurance consultant who spends most of his time in Florida.

The original owner of the house, built around 1750, was Abraham Harvey, a farmer and merchant who also owned the ferry service that took George Washington and his Continental Army troops across the Delaware River in 1776 for the successful surprise attack on the British.

The four-bedroom, 3½-bath house and adjacent barn in Washington Crossing are in what is now known as the Mount Eyre Neighborhood.

The three-level house has the original wide plank floors, high ceilings, exposed beams, beveled glass windows, custom moldings, and original wood doors.

On the first floor, the kitchen has granite countertops, built-in appliances, a propane gas stove, and a large, walk-in pantry.

The great room has stone fireplaces at each end, built-in window seats, and a Dutch-style barn door leading to the front porch.

Two rear rooms on the first floor with a full bath and separate entrance could serve as a home office or guest space.

The second floor has four bedrooms, including a primary suite with a newly renovated bath with dual sinks and a large dressing room.

The property is three acres. The double-door barn has electricity and plumbing and includes a garage and upper level entertainment area with projection TV and a half bath.

The 4,946-square-foot house has central air, a new boiler and roof, and electrical upgrades.

There is easy access to I-95.

The house is listed by Victoria Sweitzer of RE/MAX Centre Realtors for $1,095,000.
