Wings defeat Stealth, earn season sweep

The Wings used a six-goal third quarter to earn the season sweep of the Vancouver Stealth by way of a 15-11 win at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia.

Both teams entered the game with nothing but pride on the line as they have been eliminated from playoff contention.

The game was knotted up at six after the first quarter, but the Stealth (4-12) tallied two goals during the second quarter while keeping the Wings (6-11) off the board to take an 8-6 lead at the half.

The Stealth extended their advantage five minutes and 34 seconds into the third with a goal from Brett Bucktooth to make it a 9-6 game.

The Wings then went on an absolute tear with six unanswered goals from five different players. When it was all said and done, the Wings left the third with a 12-9 advantage.

The Stealth slowed the onslaught with another goal from Bucktooth but the Wings made another run, this time with three unanswered to put the game out of reach.

Leading the way offensively for the Wings was Jordan Hall, as he tallied a hat trick and five points overall. Tracey Keluskey also recorded five points with the help of four assists.

Kevin Crowley stayed busy on the offensive end, as usual, leading the team with 13 shots and scoring two goals. Kyle Buchanan tallied two goals as well.

The Wings will wrap up the 2014 season at 7:30 p.m. April 26 when they host the Colorado Mammoth at the Wells Fargo Center.
