Arena Football League All-Star Game still pending league approval

AFL Global announced in a press release that the it along with the Arena Football League will be hosting an AFL All-Star Game on Saturday, Nov. 16 in Honululu, Hawaii.

The release also said that there will be a second All-Star game in Beijing, China in the "near future."

Fans can even vote on who can participate in these All-Star games from the current crop of AFL players.

Although there is a date and voting system all set up for the games, none of this has been made official yet, according to an AFL source with knowledge of the situation.

The source said during a phone interview Tuesday that AFL Global sent out a press release early and all of this still hinges on approval from the AFL.

Despite sharing its name, AFL Global is a separate entity from the AFL. Although separate, the AFL gave permission to AFL Global to use its logos and brand of Arena Football.

AFL Global is a company that is trying to globalize the game of Arena Football with the bulk of its efforts focused on bringing American football to China.

AFL Global has already held training sessions in China in an attempt to teach the natives the American game. The venture hopes to have a league up and running by the fall of 2014.

All of that would explain why the game would be held in China as oppose to the United States, as AFL Global would try to expose the Chinese to the game using the best players from the American and National conferences of the AFL.

If the league approves the game and the game is played as scheduled, it would mark the first AFL All-Star game since 1993 in Des Moines, Iowa.

That game was mostly done as a charity event to help those affected by major floods that hit Iowa and other areas of the Midwest.
