Independence players tune in for Team USA

Half a world away, the United States women's' soccer team is tied at the half with Japan in the final of the FIFA Womens World Cup in Germany. Simply put by commentator Ian Darke, "The only thing missing by this US performance is goals." The team has peppered Japan with 14 shots and seems ready to break through.
The members of the Philadelphia Independence of the Women's Professional Soccer League are gathered in Downingtown at United Sports to watch the game. Playing in Germany are three members of the Independence, Nicole Barnhart, Lori Lindsey and Amy Rodriguez.
Amy Rodriguez – The 24-year old forward scored one goal for the Independence this season in five games. She led USC to an NCAA National Championship in 2007 and won a gold medal with the US National Team at the 2008 Olympics.
Nicole Barnhart – A back-up to Hope Solo on the national team, Barnhart started five games for the Independence and posted a 1.40 goals against average.
Lori Lindsey – Averaged just 26 minutes a game for the Independence in five games this season. In 2009, she was the team's first round pick in the inaugural draft.
