Union's Bedoya joins national team for World Cup qualifiers

Bedoya will miss the Union's game Saturday against the Fire in Chicago.

Since being signed Aug. 3, Bedoya has made four starts and the Union are 3-1 in those games.

He is the second Union player who will be out while he competes in World Cup qualifiers. Goalkeeper Andre Blake will miss his second Major League Soccer game this season on Saturday to be with Jamaica. John McCarthy will likely make his first MLS appearance of the season in goal against Chicago.

The U.S. team will travel to face St. Vincent and the Grenadines on Sept. 2. On Sept. 6, it closes out Group C action against Trinidad & Tobago in Jacksonville.

Jamaica will meet Panama on Sept. 2 and Haiti on Sept. 6 The Union will play once a week for the rest of the regular season and Bedoya and Blake will be available for selection for the Sept. 10 game against the visiting Montreal Impact.
