Sixers finalize Nocioni's departure

The Sixers announced that they have waived forward Andres Nocioni. He has not been with the team since the weekend and was working on finalizing a buyout.

Nocioni last played March 7 against Boston when he scored one point. He appeared in 11 games this season with one start.

The forward was due $6.615 million in the final year of his contract.

"We want to sincerely thank Andres for his contributions to our team and maintaining a true level of professionalism throughout his time here," Sixers president Rod Thorn said. "We wish him the best of luck as he pursues future opportunities."

Before Saturday's game in Chicago, coach Doug Collins told reporters, "We've worked out a deal with him to allow him to either go on with another team maybe, or if not, I talked to him last night, go to Argentina and get ready for the Olympics."

Nocioni is in his eighth NBA season and his second with the Sixers. He was acquired in a trade from Sacramento, along with Spencer Hawes, in exchange for Samuel Dalembert on June 17, 2010.

The move leaves the Sixers roster at 13.
