"Best" and "Worst" awards: Sixers vs. Cavaliers

My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the 76ers 94-79 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday at the Wells Fargo Center:

Best performance: This was a tough one, because Evan Turner had a double-double and Tony Wroten scored a career-high 18 points. But I gave it to their Sixers teammate Thaddeus Young. The 6-foot-8 power forward scored 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting. Young also finished with eight rebounds, two blocked shots, a steal and an assist while committing a turnover. Turner, however, finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, a steals. But he had six glaring turnovers. Wroten's career high points came on 7-for-14 shooting. But he struggled on three-point attempts,  going 2-for-8.

Worst performance: This has to go to Anderson Varejao.  The Cavs center struggled mightily against the Sixers. Varejea was held to two points on 1-for-7 shooting.  He also was a nonfactor on the boards, finishing with four rebounds in 32 minutes. Let's just say that this was a game he wants to forget.

Best defensive performance: Sixers center Spencer Hawes gets this award after blocking six shots and helping to bottle-up Varejao.

Best performance in a losing effort: Dion Waiters wins this award after producing a team-high 18 points to go with six rebounds and three assists. This is by far the South Philly native's best professional performance in his hometown arena.

Worst statistic: You have to give this to the Sixers attempting just two foul shots before intermission.

Best statistic: This award goes to Sixers points in the paint advantage.  They scored 48 points in the paint compared to 28 by Cleveland.

Worst of the Worst:  The Cavaliers blowing a 14-point lead only to trail by 19 points with 7:17 remaining.
