Markelle Fultz says hearing his name 'was like God calling me'

In his first interview after being drafted, the Sixers' No. 1 pick showed both humility and a unique fashion sense.

In his first interview after being selected by the Sixers with the No. 1 pick, Markelle Fultz told ESPN:

— "It was unbelievable, really. Truly a blessing. Something I've been dreaming about, just sitting down, thinking about hearing my name called. It was unreal, Once I heard my name called, it was like God calling me. I'm just happy."

— "What (trusting the process) means to me is, anything you do, stick with it no matter what goes on. Even if stuff isn't going your way, you've got to stick with it. I think that's what I've been doing my whole life in high school and college."

Fultz also revealed the special lining of the suit he was wearing, upon which various family photos and messages were imprinted. "My mom, pretty much all of my memories are inside here," he said. "…This is all the memories that got me to where I am today."
